By officially recognizing the State of Palestine at the end of last May, Norway has reached a new milestone in its position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It confirms its role as a historical mediator in favour of the two-state solution: a process with a distant and even uncertain horizon due to the current power dynamics on the international stage. Since 1999, Norway’s representative office is located in Al Ram in the West Bank, near Ramallah. Following Norway’s recognition of the State of Palestine effective as of 28 May, the Norwegian authorities have started a process to implement this decision. This work is ongoing, and no final decisions are made regarding our Representative Office in Ramallah.
